Arrived at the airport
Had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Bob had some local breakfast thing with fish in it and I had the Jamaican traditional breakfast.
We walked in Montego Bay for a while. We decided to do a Glass Bottom Boat tour.
This was pretty cool. We enjoyed this as we saw a turtle, stingray, eels, and a lot of cool fish.
We also went to a Bird Sanctuary - this was incredible. We would recommend that anyone who goes to Jamaica, go to the Bird Sanctuary.
The Bird Sanctuary is free. You just need to tip, as this is how they afford to upkeep the place.
We then hung out at Margueritaville and did the water slide here which was a lot of fun. Ate lunch here and the food was pretty good!
We took a taxicab to Appletons Rum Factory and did the tour. The taxicab driver took us everywhere.
He drove through the mountains on the way to Appletons and by the ocean on the way back. We also did Y/S Falls and Black River (on the way back from Appletons).
These 3 tours filled our day. Y/S Falls was very beautiful.
Black River Safari was worth the money and the trip. We saw crocodiles and many different kinds of birds. We also saw Jamaican Christmas Trees - Ha Ha Ganja!!
We ate at many different places during our stay at Montego Bay.
Took taxi cab to Ocho Rios (same driver that we had the day before). We stopped at several places on the way.
The places we stopped at were: Rose Hall, Christopher Columbus Park, and the Green Grotto (natural cave). All these places were very interesting!
Arrived at hotel. We walked around Ocho Rios for a little while before eating dinner.
Then we drove out and got to eat at the Ruins for dinner - this was great food. The restaurant above was Keith Richard's place.
The falls at the Ruins were beautiful.
We went to the hotels' private beach for the day. This was a relaxing day for us.
We laid in the sun and went snorkeling for the day. The snorkeling here was very good, we did not have to swim far to see many different kinds of fish.
We saw a big stingray, barracuda, and lots of colorful fish. We went out with our new found friends from England, we met at the Hard Rock Cafe (no affiliation with the Hard Rock around the rest of the world).
We went to Dunns River Falls in the morning. This was great and we had a lot of fun!
We had one of the local guides take us up the falls. He took lots of pictures of us, it was very beautiful here.
We walked around the whole town and then laid by the pool and drank lots of Rum and Red Stripe. We met our England friends at Bipbibips (this is a great restaurant, it over-looks the ocean).
We took a taxi to Negril (we had rode with this taxi driver a couple of times during our stay in Ocho Rios). He took us to a place called Fort Charlotte, which is an old Fort built during the war.
We would not have seen this place as it is "off the beaten path" (if there is one here) if it was not for our taxi driver. Our taxi driver "big John" took his time and pointed many different sites out to us. He also told us a lot about Jamaica itself.
After arriving at our hotel, we went for a walk on the beach - this was great! We loved being on the beach.
We asked about a dive shop. The hotel told us that they had a dive shop.
We went to the Pickled Parrot (cliffs and caves). Bob went snorkeling with 2 other couples.
Bob also did the rope swing over the cliffs. We decided to go on the sunset cruise at 3:00 p.m.
The cruise was pretty good. We went snorkeling for about 1 hour at the reef.
We saw flying fish - they are incredible. They fly across the top of the water looking for insects.
We found a dive shop and made reservations to dive in the morning. We recommend this dive shop - Dolphin Divers - and be sure to ask for Hines if he is available.
We went diving at 10am with Dolphin Divers. We had a great dive.
The water was 80 degrees at 62 feet. We saw a stingray, turtle, barracuda, and a lot of other colorful fish.
We walked along the beach and did some shopping. We relaxed for our last day on the beach - we were getting sad that we had to go home tomorrow.
We left for the airport around 9 am from the hotel in Negril. We did some last minute gift shopping in the airport.
Oh yeah - we also did some last minute rum shopping too.
We learned a lot about Jamaica: schools, living, politics, from ourtaxi cab drivers. We also got to see a lot of Jamaica.
SO THE TRIP ENDS.
